Characters
Tata Miguel' s characters are designed to reflect his emotions and the emotional journey of the story. Miguel is an old man full of life, who revives his youthful spirit in his latest adventure. Cholo, his best friend, brings humor and tenderness with his forgetful character. Sebastián, the son, represents family tensions, which are softened in his quest for reconciliation. Julieta, the granddaughter, symbolizes hope and the future with her childlike energy. Contento and Pichicha, Miguel's dogs, add warmth and loyalty, accompanying the group at all times.
Tata Miguel
A tall, corpulent man with a bushy beard. He has a cold and hard character forged by the inhospitable activity of an offshore fisherman. He lives with his inseparable friend Cholo, in the port of San Antonio, Chile.
Lover of freedom and adventure, irresponsible as a young man.
When he learns that he is going to die, his personality rejuvenates, it is like a spark of life that makes him become a child, he dreams again, his irresponsible character is accentuated and he loses his fears.
Julieta, his granddaughter, becomes during the trip his best adventure companion and listener of the fantastic stories that the old man has to tell her.
Cholo
Miguel's faithful friend. Seductive, elegant, joking and good-humored.
He has lived with Miguel for 40 years.
He gets confused and forgets things, as a result of repeated blows to the head that he received as a young man in his famous career as a pampino boxer in the north of Chile, which took him all over Latin America in the 60s.
Cholo uses a notebook where he writes down his whole life, to remember in moments of forgetfulness.
The most characteristic phrases in this book are: "Accompany the captain" and "Shine the moccasins on Sundays".
Sebastian
He is a serious and very responsible man, the opposite of his father. Fearful and attached to the rules...
He has a job as an accountant in an office in Santiago, has a well composed family and leads a structured life.
He has been estranged from his father for 20 years, who never took him into account. But when he learns of Miguel's heart disease, he thinks it is the right thing to do to visit him and introduce him to Julieta.
PICHICHA Y CONTENTO
They are the inseparable dogs of Tata Miguel and Cholo.Pichicha a Labrador, with a noble and affectionate character. She is an adult dog, robust and moves with elegance. She is very distracted.
Content a chelot. His lower jaw protrudes leaving his teeth out, that's why he always seems to be happy. He has a fearsome appearance because of his fangs, but he is an extremely tender and affectionate dog.
